Fucking Job Interview
So I got this call Monday. The lady says she has seen my resume and how bout I come in for a job interview to be a finacial advisor. Methinks- well not really my dream job but I am enthusiastic and book an interview for Wednesday at 8:45. She then tells me she will send me the details and directions via email. Well after I saw the email with the huge itinarary for the interview (which was about 3 hours long) I'm thinking I should call back and cancel or demand pay for me time. (I am joking on that one). Basically the intinerary says... 8:45-9:00 sign in and arrive 9:00-10:30 test taking- 10:30-11:30 meet with vice president 11:30-12:15 meet with district manager So as you can see I was not looking foward to this. On Wednesday I dragged my ass out of bed around 6:45, got dressed and was on the rode around 7:45. The commute wasn't too bad, but I would rather be late than early. I got there in time and "signed in" a lot of other people were there too so this seemed to be one of those group orientation things. Finally a woman comes out and explains that we will be taking a test first regarding reading comprehension, mathematic skills and background information. If we pass the test then we will move on to the next phase and learn what are daily tasks would be and finally have an interview. I hate test taking. They set us all up on the floor in the workspace. The whole time I was taking my test two guys around my age, who worked there were goofing off and talking about what they did the night before and there plans for tonight. The test was hard. I did fine on the reading and comprehension but the math test- no fucking way. I hate %%%%percentages and frigging fractions. I swear one of the goddamn questions was like "In 2000 the advertising campaign was $160,000 which was three times more than in 1999. If the campaign went up 75% in 2001 then how much would the campaign be in 2001?" What the fuck- I hate word problems. I just blanked. I tried to pick the best guess but forget it. Then the test asked me background info- lot's of stuff about if I would like working on commision and things that asked if I was comfortable starting conversations with strangers and if someone had a strong opinion that differed than me would that upset me. So yeah, needless to say I didn't pass the test. Whatever not what I wanted. I have no interest in working sales, making money on commision and having to make cold calls- no thanks. The only thing good about the whole ordeal was that I was out of there by 10 am. I called the boyfriend and then went there. Tonight after I got in, my mother told me that the temp agency called because they want to set me up for an interview tomorrow. I hope this one goes a lot better.
